WG Motorworks Tuning Guide

The full M version of the G20 model 3/4 Series. Leaving the factory with 510PS (550PS CS models) and a quoted 479LBFT torque on the competition models which an impressive 0-62mph time of only 3.5 Seconds! Ditching the well-known DCT gearbox of the F series M cars, in favour of the more refined for daily driving M Steptronic Sports Transmission with Drivelogic, 8-speed renowned ZF8 Gearbox, with the option of rear-wheel drive or all-wheel drive M xDrive system through Active M differential.

The S58 powerplant is still a 3.0 litre straight 6,  a cross between the B58, and former M S55 set-up, running a twin-turbo, twin fuel pump direct injection fuel system, this engine is already showing massive poteional with minimal work to complete the 1/4 mile in under 10 seconds, and with a choice mods breaking 1000HP.

S58 Engine ECU tuning can be offered across two options, our standard tune with its proven calibrations - which have been Dyno, Track, and also importantly Road tested. Alternatively, and preferably we can offer ECUTEK Racerom software which allows us to enhance more aspects of the engine including on-the-fly map switching features, rolling anti-lag while allowing the end-user to adjust certain parameters with a Bluetooth device with phone APP

For the power-hungry folk or those who simply want to improve their soundtrack - plenty of upgrades can be offered from MOT-legal exhaust systems or full track-ready systems (Not road legal), along with Hybrid turbochargers, Intakes and engine cooling upgrades. Click here for Performance Upgrades

ECUTEK RaceRom

With our BMW tuning services, we are able to offer to tune over ECUTEK's Racerom platform - allowing us to offer some great features such as different MAP modes, creating different driving power outputs, octane, flex fuel, and Methanol maps, all of which can be switched while driving along. Along with this, we can offer on-the-fly burble adjustments, recalibrated sports dials to be used as charge temp/boost gauges, push-to-pass, and rolling anti-lag features to name a few! xHP Gearbox Software

Also with our BMW tuning services, we are able to offer the world renown xHP ZF8 Gearbox software, this software not only allows us to exceed certain levels of torque (Gearbox limiter removal) it dramatically changes the whole driving experience while retaining full comfort in normal driving modes but when switching to M or S modes increasing shift times by up to 50%, providing instant paddle response and gear change selection logic, throttle blips plus many more features! Stage 1

The first step in extracting power from the S58 engine requires no hardware changes, this is a software-only upgrade. The ECU software sees massive gains from optimising boost and timing.

With our 'Stage 1' software upgrades the following features are included:

  • Vmax Removal (Speed limiter removed)
  • Sports Displays recalibrated to suit new outputs
  • Enhanced over run on Sports mode (Optional)
  • Switchable map modes vai ECUTEK Racerom

Stage 1+

An additional modification that improves the Flow of the stock turbocharger is to remove the OPF Filters from the exhaust. With the free-flowing exhaust section installed, fuelling can be optimized and new lambda targets set, we can add a slight increase in boost pressure and ignition timing to take advantage of this setup. This can also be carried out with either a delete section or a downpipe back system.

With our 'Stage 1+' software upgrades, the following features are included:

  • Vmax Removal (Speed limiter removed)
  • Sports Displays recalibrated to suit new outputs
  • Enhanced overrun on Sports mode (optional)
  • Switchable map modes (ECUTEK Racerom required)
  • Cold start delete (removal of high/loud idle) (optional)
  • GPF Software Delete to avoid EML lights

Stage 2

The final hardware change for maximising the standard turbochargers efficiency range, is a full free-flowing exhaust system, removing the standard downpipe with Catless (not for road use) or Sports catted downpipes with a mid pipe / full system. This is the final step before improving octane via Ethanol content or Race fuel

With our 'Stage 2' software upgrades the following are included:

  • Vmax Removal (Speed limiter removed)
  • Sports Displays recalibrated to suit new outputs
  • Enhanced overrun on Sports mode (optional)
  • Switchable map modes (ECUTEK Racerom required)
  • Cold start delete (removal of high/loud idle) (optional)
  • Catalyst code removal to avoid EML lights

OUR SERVICES INCLUDE

Dyno Testing

All ECU remaps are carried out on our State of the Art Dyno Dynamics Dynotech rolling road, which can accurately read upto 1200HP

Data Logging

Each car is hooked up to a Wide band lambda sensor to ensure correct air to fuel ratio, along with data logging tools to ensure Boost, Ignition timing parameters are all in check

Diagnostic Check

We carry out a pre and post tuning ECU diagnostic trouble code check (DTC) to ensure no faults are present before or after tuning
