WGM BMW F Series M Car S55 Exhaust Camshaft Alignment Service
The issue:
The top end ‘tap’ when cold, which usually comes in after cold start warm up stops and idle lowers. Usually present until the engine is up to temperature, often sounds quite worrying, but if pinpointed at the camshaft area exhaust cam (Driver’s side of the engine) this is usually your issue – and of course, no noise present on restart after work completed (cold engine test)
The Cause:
Misalignment of the Exhaust camshaft to the camshaft carrier.
Models Affected are the S55 Engine Modes, as found in the M2 Competition, M3 and M4
This service includes the following:
- Removing the Rocker cover, Injector wells to access the camshaft
- Install Genuine BWM Tools for alignment
- Realign and Torque correctly the exhaust camshaft
- Replace Injector Well Gaskets, Injector Telfon Seals
- Replace Rocker cover gasket with Genuine parts
