BMW Service Schedule is officially ‘Sealed for life’ However this often transpires to 100K miles. However, ZF, who make the gearbox advise 6 years or 60,000 Miles,
We Rrecommend following ZF’s advice, or sooner if the car is Tuned / Driven hard.
The ZF8 gearbox is found in a wide range of cars and engines, not just BMWs! It is an extremely sophisticated piece of engineering that needs to be looked after with regular oil changes. These transmissions are built up of a few hundred components, some of these components are designed to wear out (like clutches) through making use of them. Your driving style and proper maintenance have the biggest impact on the overall lifetime of these transmission components.
This service includes the following:
- Genuine ZF Sump (Plastic)
- Millers ATF8 Gearbox Oil
- Gearbox oil level checked
When carrying out the Gearbox service, we drain all oil where possible (although around 2l will remain in the torque converter, which is not possible to renew without removal (Gearbox removal) Replacing the Sump which also houses the built-in filter, we refill the Gearbox with Millers ATF8 Gearbox oil (ZF Genuine fluid is available for an extra cost) The Gearbox level is then checked and corrected as per servicing guidelines.
